Air Conditioning

Keep your home comfortable all year round with professionally installed air conditioning from Wood & Williams. We supply and fit efficient cooling and climate-control systems for homes across Poole and Dorset, with clear advice, tidy workmanship and reliable aftercare.

Cool in summer, warm in winter

Looking for air conditioning in Poole? Our F-Gas certified engineers supply and fit wall-mounted systems that keep a room cool on the hottest days. Most modern air conditioning works as an air-to-air heat pump, so the same unit can also heat the room when the weather turns cold.

We help you choose the right size of unit, fit it neatly and set everything up before we leave. Wood & Williams are heating and air conditioning engineers based in Poole, serving Broadstone, Corfe Mullen, Penn Hill and the surrounding area.

  • Cooling and heating from one wall-mounted unit
  • A system sized to your room, not guessed
  • Refrigerant work done by F-Gas certified engineers
  • A walk-through of the controls before we leave

How It Works

01

Home survey & clear recommendation

We visit your property to assess the room size, layout, insulation, outdoor unit position and electrical requirements, then recommend a suitable air conditioning system with a straightforward written quote.

02

Neat, professional installation

Our engineers install the indoor and outdoor units, run pipework and drainage neatly, and complete the work with minimal disruption to your home.

03

Testing & handover

We test the system, explain how to use the controls and settings, and provide practical maintenance advice to help keep your air conditioning running efficiently.

What our air conditioning gives you

Efficient heating and cooling

Modern air conditioning systems can cool rooms in summer and provide efficient heating in colder months, giving you better control over comfort throughout the year.

Planned around your space

Our engineers fit systems in houses, extensions, loft rooms and garden offices. We plan each one around how you use the room, where the units can go and how the pipework will run.

Certified installation & aftercare

Our F-Gas certified team installs systems safely and correctly, with clear guidance, proper testing and ongoing servicing available to help maintain performance.

Clear advice on running costs

We explain how the size of the unit, its efficiency and the way you use it affect what it costs to run, so you know what to expect on your electricity bill.

What we install

We install wall-mounted air conditioning systems for bedrooms, living rooms, loft conversions, garden rooms, home offices and open-plan spaces. Each system is selected to suit the size and use of the room, with careful consideration given to unit placement, pipe routes, condensate drainage and outdoor unit positioning. We focus on discreet installations that look tidy, perform efficiently and are easy to use.

How we work

A lead engineer visits your home, talks through how you use the space and looks at where the indoor and outdoor units could go. We then recommend a system and give you a clear written quote. For a loft conversion or garden office, we check the electrics and the pipe route at the same visit, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting the size right

A unit that's too small runs flat out and still struggles on a hot afternoon. One that's too big switches on and off all the time, which wastes energy and wears it out sooner. We size each system to the room's floor area, its windows, which way it faces and how well it's insulated. A south-facing loft room or a garden office with large glass doors often needs more cooling than a bedroom of the same size.

What affects the cost

We price each job after the survey, because no two rooms are the same. The biggest factor is the size of unit the room needs, measured in kilowatts (kW), and how many rooms you want to cool or heat.

The rest comes down to the installation itself: how far apart the indoor and outdoor units are and how the pipework is routed, where the outdoor unit can sit (on the ground, on a wall bracket or on a flat roof), and whether a new electrical circuit is needed from your consumer unit.

Your written quote sets out exactly what's included before any work starts.

Why it needs an F-Gas engineer

Air conditioning runs on refrigerant gas, and most refrigerants are powerful greenhouse gases if they leak. By law, anyone who installs, services or repairs a system that holds refrigerant must hold an F-Gas certificate. Our engineers are F-Gas certified, so the pipework is pressure tested for leaks and the system is charged correctly. Manufacturers often require a certified installer for their warranty to apply, too.

Questions about air conditioning

Yes. Many modern air conditioning systems work as heat pumps, meaning they can provide cooling in summer and efficient heating during colder months. We can advise whether this is suitable for the room or area you want to control.
